Mysterious Gannet Deaths on Cape Cod’s Shores Prompts Further Investigation
13 June 2017 – EASTHAM – An unusual number of Northern Gannets are washing up on the shores of Cape Cod with mysterious illness. Seemingly healthy birds are presenting with peculiar neurological symptoms. Wild Care of Cape Cod took in 23 gannets in an attempt to rehabilitate and pinpoint what’s causing the fatal sickness. Blown Off-Course, Dovekies Find Helping Hands
Wild Care received six dovekies late last week. A sea-faring species, the birds were blown inland due to high northeast winds from a cold front that swept Cape Cod and much of Massachusetts Dec. 17. Two of the birds survived and were released Dec. 2READ ALL NEWS
